Stori ni / About Us

Ein breuddwyd i ddechre pennod Newydd…

We wanted to combine our love of food, plants and meeting people to create a welcoming business in rural West Wales. We started a conversation about running a pub during lockdown and got a bit carried away… as a result we’ve moved into our new home at the Plough, Felingwm. We’re so grateful to friends, family and the former owners who have supported us on this journey.

Who are we?

Joseph is a gardener and enthusiastic cook. He was trained at Kew Gardens in London and has travelled all over the world, learning lots about horticulture and hospitality along the way. From collecting peonies in China and tulips in Turkey, to learning how to cook on open flames in South America – he’s now bringing his experience and energy to start his own venture in the beautiful Tywi Valley. The former head gardener at the nearby Aberglasney gardens, Joseph now plans to grow, cook and serve hearty food, all cooked outdoors on wood fires.

Rachael is a former BBC Wales journalist who has spent 30 years working in the media, presenting TV and radio programmes, usually on a rural theme. A former presenter of the Ffermio programme, the BBC Wales coverage from the Royal Welsh Show and the BBC Radio Wales ‘Country Focus’ programme, Rachael has travelled widely with her work. She’s also a keen cook with a passion for promoting Welsh food and drink.

“We want to create a relaxed dining experience where people can watch us cook, then enjoy the best of Welsh local produce, adding a bit of flame-cooked flavour and always the best Carmarthenshire croeso [welcome].”
